Lenovo Unveils Five New Tablets, Including Android Go Slates

Lenovo on Thursday announced five new Android tablets that it intends to start retailing in the coming weeks, revealing a broad range of slates covering nearly all consumer-grade use cases. The company's latest mobile offerings come in the form of the Tab E7, Tab E8, Tab E10, Tab M10, and the Tab P10, and while their pricing and availability details are yet to be confirmed, the electronics manufacturer already revealed everything that's making them tick.

Lenovo Tab P10

The Lenovo Tab P10 is the most powerful of the newly announced bunch, though it's still a mid-ranger, offering Qualcomm's Snapdragon 450 chip running at up to 1.8GHz, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of flash memory expandable by up to an extra 256GB of storage via a microSD card tray, and a 10.1-inch IPS LCD panel with an FHD resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels. An 8-megapixel camera can be found on the back of the device, with a 5-megapixel sensor sitting on the front, though only the former has autofocusing capabilities. Lenovo's Tab P10 runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, sports a single nano-SIM card slot enabling GSM-based 4G LTE connectivity, offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C 2.0 connector, and a 7,000mAh battery said to be capable of delivering up to 15 hours of video playback on one charge. The device will be made available in Aurora Black and Sparkling White, with both variants boasting four stereo speakers featuring Dolby Atmos support. Lenovo will also be packaging all units with a Kid's Bumper accessory, the company confirmed.

Lenovo Tab M10

The Tab M10 has been designed as a versatile Android slate intended to compete in the lower part of the mid-range tablet segment. Offered in Slate Black and Polar White, this gadget features a 10.1-inch IPS LCD panel with an FHD resolution of 1,920 by 1,200 pixels, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a microSD card slot allowing up to 256GB of extra flash memory. A 4,850mAh battery is part of the package as well, rated for up to five hours of video playback, together with a 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front sensor, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port. The device is fueled by Qualcomm-made Snapdragon 450 chip offering eight cores clocked at up to 1.8GHz and runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. 4G LTE cellular connectivity is supported as well, but only of the GSM variety, relying on a single nano-SIM card tray.

Lenovo Tab E10

The Lenovo Tab E10 is equipped with a 10-inch IPS LCD panel featuring an HD resolution of 1,280 by 800 pixels and 16GB of flash storage. While only offered in Slate Black, the Chinese company is planning to deliver two memory configurations, allowing consumers to choose between 1GB and 2GB of RAM. Both are said to come running Android Oreo Go Edition, so unless Lenovo made a communication mistake, the more capable Tab E10 model is the world's first Android Go device with more than 1GB of RAM. The slate features Qualcomm's entry-level Snapdragon 210 chip, 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front sensor, and a 4,850mAh battery capable of delivering up to seven hours of video playback on a single charge. Cellular connectivity isn't part of the package but a microSD card tray is, supporting up to 128GB of additional storage. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also included.

Lenovo Tab E7 & Tab E8

The Lenovo Tab E7 is an Android tablet that's as entry-level as they come, though it seeks to differentiate itself from its immediate rivals by being remarkably thin for such a cheap piece of hardware, measuring in at only 8.8mm of thickness. Beneath that slim physique is MediaTek's MT8167 chip clocked at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage space, and a microSD card slot with support for up to 128GB of extra flash memory. A 2,750mAh battery rated for up to five hours of video playback on a single charge is also on board, together with dual-SIM support, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a 7-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1,024 by 600 pixels. A 2-megapixel camera can be found on the Tab E7's rear plate, whereas its top bezel houses a 0.3-megapixel unit that's a throwback to the pre-smartphone era but also perfectly fitting for a device that should offer excellent performance at a sub-$100 price given how it runs Android Oreo Go Edition.

Lenovo's Tab E8 is a somewhat similar gadget that — much like its name implies — offers an 8-inch LCD panel with an HD (1,280 x 800) resolution and a higher-capacity 4,850mAh battery which should last about twice as long as the one inside the E7. The vast majority of its internals are identical, though the software department reveals a regular build of Android Nougat that isn't likely to be upgraded to Oreo anytime soon. It also delivers somewhat better imaging capabilities thanks to the inclusion of a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front one. While both the Tab E7 and Tab E8 are only offered in a Slate Black color option, the latter doesn't feature cellular connectivity support.

Android has changed tremendously in the last ten years. Returning to modern hardware after our historical series , I was struck by the visual differences across versions. LG G7 ThinQ to Have Boombox-Like Sound, Feature DTS:X Immersive Audio

In typical LG fashion, we're learning more about the upcoming G7 ThinQ via official channels, even though we're 2 days away from an unveiling in NYC. This is fine with us, so long as we get a better understanding of what to expect later this week. Yesterday, LG detailed all of the different audio aspects of the device. For those who cry for dual stereo speakers, that doesn't appear to be the case on the G7 ThinQ.
