Samsung & Harman Kardon Announce Premium Sound Bars With Dolby Atmos

Samsung announced today that it has collaborated with Harman Kardon – which is part of HARMAN, and Samsung bought HARMAN last year – to create two new premium sound bars. These are the HW-N950 and HW-N850 sound bars which include Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, giving users an immersive sound experience.

Both of these sound bars do include Dolby Atmos and DTS: X technologies, which is going to make the user feel like they are in a theater, in their home. Samsung has up and side-firing speakers included in these sound bars, that will allow the sound to fill the entire room, which allows for a pretty immersive experience. The HW-N850 is a simple unit, compared to its brother – the HW-N950 –  it has a 5.1.2 channel, featuring a main unit speaker and a woofer. While the HW-N950 has a built-in wireless subwoofer, with rear wireless speakers to give you real surround sound. It also has 7.1.4 channels, which Samsung is happy to point out has the most channels currently available in a sound bar. The HW-N850 is a great sound bar to pick up for those that have a smaller TV, in perhaps a smaller room. While the HW-N950 is a great sound bar for those with larger TV's and a larger room, as it can really spread the sound around the room with the wireless subwoofer and two satellite speakers. Finally, both of these sound bars work with Alexa. That doesn't mean that Amazon Alexa is built-in, what it means is that you can ask Alexa to turn on your sound bar, adjust the volume and so forth.

Samsung and Harman have been working together since the acquisition closed last year. The two companies have been mostly focusing on Samsung's mobile business, by tuning the speakers in its smartphones and tablets, as well as including a pair of AKG headphones in the box with its smartphones – including the new Galaxy Note 9. Now, the two are moving into the home entertainment aspect, with these two sound bars. The two sound bars will be available for purchase next week, on August 20. Samsung has not yet announced how much either of these will cost, but they are available for pre-order on Amazon and cost $1197 and $1697 respectively. You can pre-order them from the links below.
