Samsung Unveils Galaxy Watch With Gorilla Glass DX+

Samsung had introduced its Galaxy Note 9 flagship today in New York, and along with it, the company also decided to show off its all-new smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch. The Galaxy Watch has been rumored for a while now, the company has just introduced the device in two variants, both 42mm and 46mm flavors have been announced by the company. The company has introduced the Galaxy Watch in Silver, Midnight Black, and Rose Gold colors, while not all variants of the watch come with 4G LTE connectivity.

All Galaxy Watch variants are made out of metal, and sport round displays, while a silicone band is included in the package, though you can change it, of course. The Galaxy Watch is able to track six of the most popular exercises, says Samsung, including walking, running, cycling, elliptical, training, rowing, and dynamic workouts. The watch features 21 new indoor exercises from a selection of 39 activities, says Samsung. The watch can also track your food and water intake, as both of those are quite important when it comes to exercise. Having said that, the 46mm variant of the watch comes in Silver color option only, while the 42mm variant will be available in both Midnight Black and Rose Gold color options. The Galaxy Watch comes with an Always On Display, and it actually sports military-level durability, as it comes with Corning's Gorilla Glass DX+ screen protection, and 5 ATM water resistance.

The company claims that you will be able to get 'days' of battery life out of the Galaxy Watch, and the watch has a built-in GPS. The 42mm variant of the Galaxy Watch sports a 1.2-inch (360 x 360) Super AMOLED display, while it weighs 49 grams without a strap. That variant of the watch measures 41.9 x 45.7 x 12.7mm, and it sports a 20mm strap. Samsung offers various straps for both variants of the Galaxy Watch, in case you were wondering. The 42mm variant of the watch also comes with a 270mAh battery. The 42mm model features a 1.3-inch (360 x 360) Super AMOLED display, weighs 63 grams, and measures 46 x 49 x 13mm. This variant of the watch comes with a 472mAh battery on the inside.

All variants of the Galaxy Watch are fueled by a dual-core SoC clocked at 1.15GHz, though Samsung did not mention what SoC exactly are we looking at here. Tizen OS 4.0 comes pre-installed on the Galaxy Watch, while all variants include 4GB of internal storage. 4G LTE model of the Galaxy Watch comes with 1GB of RAM, while the Bluetooth only model features 768MB of RAM. Bluetooth 4.2 is included on all variants, and the same can be said for Wi-Fi b/g/n. You will use WPC-based wireless charging in order to recharge the Galaxy Watch, and the device is compatible with Android smartphones which run Android 5.0 (or later versions), while it also comes with iOS compatibility (iOS 9.0 or above, iPhone 5 or above).

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 42mm Bluetooth version will be available for $329.99, while the 46mm version will cost $349.99 in the US. The watch will be available from Amazon, Best Buy, and Samsung.com in the US, starting on August 24. The LTE version of the Galaxy Watch will be available at AT&T, Samsung.com, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon, and some select major national retailers. Pre-orders for the Galaxy Watch will kick off on August 10, and will last until August 23, in case you were wondering. If you pre-order or order the watch before September 8, you will get a free Samsung watch band.
