Verizon ready to turn on 5G, taking customer sign-ups now
Earlier this week Verizon announced they are preparing to turn on their new 5G service on October 1st. For those who are interested in being among the first to get this new service, Verizon has opened up the process to sign-up for their Verizon 5G Home product. There are some limitations for interested consumers, the primary one being geography. The initial markets where 5G service will be available only include Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Sacramento and Houston. Even if you happen to live in one of those cities you may still be out of luck as coverage may be further limited to specific areas.
The Verizon 5G Home product is similar to many other land-line based Internet providers in that customers will get a combination modem that connects to the Verizon 5G network that also includes a built-in router to be used to create a WiFi network in a consumer's home. Verizon says expected speeds should be in the 300Mbps range with the potential to peak at 1Gbps.
Verizon is pricing the new product at $50 per month for existing Verizon wireless customers or $70 per month for non-Verizon customers. With Verizon 5G Home being a new product, the company is sweetening the deal to try to entice early adopters by giving away the first 3 months of service free. Those signing up now will receive a bonus gift of 3 months of YouTube TV and their choice of an Apple TV 4K or a Chromecast Ultra. Verizon says there will be no annual contracts and the monthly price includes the equipment, any installation fees, and monthly fees and taxes.
If you are interested in signing up for Verizon 5G Home and live in those cities, you can hit the source link below for more information and to check whether your address is covered by the service.
