OxygenOS 9.0.3 Brings A Lot Of Various Improvements To The OnePlus 6

OnePlus has been on a roll when it comes to releasing updates for its devices, the OnePlus 6T had released quite a few stable updates in the last couple of weeks, the OnePlus 6 and 6T have received several OxygenOS Open Beta updates lately, Android 9 Pie stable update started rolling out to the OnePlus 5 and 5T quite recently as well, and now a new stable update has landed on the OnePlus 6. This new update is marked as OxygenOS 9.0.3, and it brings a ton of improvements to the OnePlus 6, which is technically no longer the company's flagship, but it's not far from it either, as it's pretty much on the same level as the OnePlus 6T, at least in our opinion.

In any case, this new update also brings a new feature or two, along with all those improvements, so let's see what's new in that regard first, shall we. Once you install this update, you'll get an audio tuner for Bluetooth earphones, which is something users have been waiting for, ever since it arrived to the OnePlus 6T, not to mention that it has been available to the OnePlus 6 via OxygenOS Open Beta update for a while now. In addition to that, OnePlus has also added VoLTE support for Bouygues FR, though that does not interest the vast majority of you. Those of you who are worried about security, don't fret, as this update also brings Google's Android security patch for December, which makes this phone up-to-date when it comes to security patches.

Let's talk optimization, as there are quite a few of them included in this update. OxygenOS 9.0.3 improves Wi-Fi stability on the OnePlus 6, and the same goes for Bluetooth as well, which should improve the phone's connectivity overall. In terms of the phone's camera, OnePlus says that Nightscape and slow-motion performance on the device have been improved, and the company has also optimized image processing. On top of all that, general bug fixes and improvements have also been included in this update. That is more or less it as far as the company's official changelog is concerned. This update has started rolling out to the OnePlus 6 users, though do keep in mind it may take a couple of days until it reaches your smartphone, as the rollout of this update is gradual, same as any other update that the company releases.

OnePlus 6 vs OnePlus 6T

The OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T have both been announced this year, and both of them are flagship-grade. Both of these phones are fueled by the same processor, the Snapdragon 845. On top of that, both phones feature a similar design, even though the OnePlus 6T has a smaller notch, and no rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The OnePlus 6T looks better overall, many would agree, but on the other hand, it does not sport a 3.5mm headphone jack, as the OnePlus 6, and its in-display fingerprint scanner may be more modern, but it's slower and less responsive than the rear-facing capacitive unit on the OnePlus 6. All in all, many would agree that it's not worth upgrading to the OnePlus 6T from the OnePlus 6, while some people actually prefer the OnePlus 6 over the 6T. On top of everything we've mentioned, the OnePlus 6T also does not have an LED notification light, which is not the case with the OnePlus 6, so if you care about that, the OnePlus 6 is still a great choice. Now, when it comes to software and features, these two phones are also quite similar, both phones are running Android 9 Pie with OxygenOS on top, and both have identical camera and software features, so you're not exactly getting a considerably better experience on the OnePlus 6T, by any means. Both devices ship with the same display technology, though the OnePlus 6T's display is a bit larger, as is its battery. Neither of the two phones offer wireless charging, but they both ship with OnePlus' proprietary fast charging, while the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition comes with Warp Charge, which is even faster than OnePlus' regular proprietary fast charging. All in all, both of these devices are great options if you're planning to buy a flagship which is extremely fast, and you're not looking to spend too much money at the same time, as both devices are now considerably more affordable than the competition, even though the OnePlus 6 is no longer available to purchase directly from OnePlus.
