A new Portable SSD T7 without a fingerprint scanner was confirmed

Samsung is preparing to release a new SSD T7 model that lacks a fingerprint scanner. An official product page for this new variant went live at Samsung Canada, and although pricing and release details are missing, the scannerless Portable SSD T7 is shown from all angles in numerous press renders.

The new model drops the 'Touch' moniker

Samsung's original Portable SSD T7 Touch was released earlier this year with a fingerprint scanner built-in. But since the upcoming sensorless model lacks this security feature, it seems to be dropping the 'Touch' moniker. It's simply listed as the Portable SSD T7 on the company's Canadian portal.

Much like the original model, the Portable SSD T7 will be available in three storage configurations including 500GB, 1TB, and 2GB. Other specs such as the USB 3.2 Gen.2 (10Gbps) interface and the shock-proof body appear to be unchanged. However, since it lacks a built-in fingerprint scanner, the Portable SSD T7 should technically be released for lower prices compared than the Touch model. The original fingerprint scanner-equipped variant with 500GB, 1TB, and 2GB of storage was launched for $129.99, $229.99, and $399.99, respectively.

The new Portable SSD T7 also introduces new, different color options. Instead of black and silver, the upcoming sensorless variant will be released in Titan Gray, Indigo Blue, and Metallic Red. We'll keep you posted as soon as we learn more about pricing and availability.

Google Maps tests directions screen with refreshed Material Design, rolls out For You tab to 130 countries

With every few updates, Google Maps seems to walk closer and closer to a full-fledged refresh of its Material interface, helping it go along with the new direction Google is taking this year with its app design language. We've seen a new look for the main interface , an updated side menu , overhauled hotel listings , new fonts in many places throughout the app, a persistent Overview/Reviews/Photos bar on some place listings, and even an update to the look of the app on Android Auto . But over the past couple of days, one more part of the app is getting its re-looking session: Directions. For the longest time now, Google Maps has had a blue background behind the from/to directions boxes. Samsung Galaxy J2 Core manual shows a customized Android Go phone

Samsung's first Android Go phone – the Galaxy J2 Core – has been making the rounds and causing some confusion. We saw the quad-core CPU of the Exynos 7570 benchmarked and we have some idea about the geographic distribution of its variants. Perhaps its manual can clear some things out. Here's some good news – the back is removable and you can change the battery. Here's some bad news – the USB port looks like a microUSB. The phone is a dual SIM handset with old-school slots, there are no card trays here (and you need to remove the battery to change the SIMs). There's a microSD card slots stacked on top of one of the SIM slots. The big questions was "how much will Samsung customize Android Go?" And the answer seems to be "plenty". The manual doesn't name the Android version, but it shows how to use Galaxy Apps and Smart Switch. Even the homescreen has the usual Samsung looks.
