Samsung releases firmware update for the Gear S3 in the US

After launching the Gear S3 in the US, Samsung has now rolled out a minor firmware update for its smartwatch. The update brings improved GPS performance for the S Health and the Golf Navi apps on the Gear S3. The update also brings some changes to the time zone settings in the World Clock app for Russia.

The update with version number R770XXU1APK6/R760OXA1APK6 has a file size of 14.06MB and is being rolled out now. Samsung released the Speedometer for Gear app yesterday for the Gear S3. The app shows the speed of a user in real-time using the smartwatch’s GPS capabilities.

It goes without saying that Samsung is going to spend a lot of money on marketing to get the word out that its new flagship smartphone is the one you should be buying this year. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ at an event in New York City today. Since it was an invite-only event, although it was streamed live online, Samsung decided to spend a lot of money to tell New Yorkers that the Galaxy S8 has arrived. Samsung illuminated the iconic Times Square in New York City with immersive displays reflective of the visual experience that the Galaxy S8′s Infinity Display promises. It basically bought out almost every available signage to announce the arrival of its newest flagship smartphone.
