Galaxy S8′s bundled AKG earphones will also be sold separately for $99

Samsung had confirmed long before it made the Galaxy S8 official that the upcoming flagship will come bundled with a pair of AKG-branded earphones. This has been made possible by Samsung’s recent acquisition of Harman International which owns many premium audio brands including AKG. This partnership has also brought AKG-tuned audio to the Galaxy Tab S3.

Samsung says that these new AKG earphones that come in the box with the Galaxy S8 have a hybrid canal fit for better noise cancellation and have an anti-tangle cord. This seriously improves Samsung’s headset offering with its flagship smartphone and justifies the higher cost of the new flagship to some extent.

The company has also confirmed today that these AKG earphones will be sold separately as well for $99 so if you’d like to use them with an older Samsung device or just want what seems to be a good pair of earphones, you can buy them without having to splurge on a new smartphone.

Samsung Display remains the leader in global display market

The latest data from IHS Markit shows that Samsung Display has retained its dominant position as the top global smartphone display vendor in the first quarter of this year. It was able to do that as more smartphone manufacturers opted for OLED panels for their premium devices. Samsung picked up the bulk of those orders. Samsung's display affiliate is estimated to have shipped $3.4 billion worth of smartphone displays in the first quarter ending March 2019. It accounted for 40.2 percent of the smartphone display market in this period. Samsung Display also accounted for 80 percent of OLED panel supplies. ARCore apps are now available for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S in China

Google's ARCore apps can now run on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S in China. The apps are available in the Xiaomi App Store through a partnership with Google. A tweet from the Google AR & VR Twitter account announced the news today, although the exact ARCore apps that are now compatible with the Mi Mix 2S were not named. Google did say in the tweet that more partners for ARCore are coming soon. The Mi Mix 2S is the first phone from the manufacturer to support ARCore. Some OnePlus 6Ts have an issue with waves of static on the display

Based on a handful of reports on the OnePlus product forums, some 6T owners have run into a problem with their phone's display in which a pixelated sort of "wave" or pulse of bright colors travels up or down the screen. A reliable trigger can't seem to be found, but for those that are affected, it appears to happen more often on the lock screen while using either OnePlus' face recognition or the in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone. The issue — which our Cody Toombs aptly described as "like something changed in the Matrix" — is demonstrated in the video below: VIDEO Based on reports, a factory reset can't fix the problem, and it doesn't appear to be tied to any specific SKU.
