New Samsung Gear 360 shoots true 4K video in 360-degrees

We had been hearing for quite some time now that Samsung was due to launch a new Gear 360 camera in the near future and it has done that today. Samsung has announced the new Gear 360 camera which is capable of shooting true 4K video in 360-degrees. The predecessor was only able to capture 360-degree video in “near-4K.” The new camera has a refined design for easier user and is notably smaller than its predecessor.

Touting 8.4-megapixel image sensors with Bright Lens F/2.2 on both dual fisheye lenses, the new Gear 360 can record content in true 4K resolution. When capturing 360-degree video or still images, users can take advantage of multiple viewing models, photo effects, editing tools and filters to add a personal flair to their content. 360-degree videos can also be easily converted to standard formats for easier sharing.

The new Gear 360 also gets real-time content sharing. When synced with a compatible smartphone or PC, the camera can be used to broadcast live to platforms like Samsung VR, Facebook and YouTube.

The new Gear 360 is compatible with several Samsung handsets including the newly launched Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S6 series, the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy A5 and A7 (2017). It’s also compatible with the iPhone 7, iPhone 6, iPhone SE aside from Windows and Mac computers.

Pricing and availability information for the new Gear 360 will be confirmed at a later date. What do you think of the new Gear 360?
