T-Mobile Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ pre-orders open tonight, price and incentives confirmed

Samsung’s new flagship smartphone has been officially announced today. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. Samsung has confirmed that it’s going to release the new flagship on April 21 and now its carrier partners are gradually coming out with pricing and availability information.

T-Mobile has just confirmed that customers can pre-order the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ starting tonight at 9 pm PT via its website. Those who pre-order it from T-Mobile or buy it from MetroPCS at launch will receive a free Gear VR with Controller and Oculus content.

The Galaxy S8 is going to cost $30 down on T-Mobile with equal monthly payments of $30 for 24 months on the T-Mobile EIP with a full retail price of $750. On Demand customers can buy it for $0 down and $33 per month.

The Galaxy S8+ is going to cost $130 down and $30 per month for 24 months on EIP at a full retail price of $850. The down payment and monthly payment amount remain the same for On Demand customers. Pre-orders can be placed online or via the carrier’s retail stores.

Some OnePlus 6Ts have an issue with waves of static on the display

Based on a handful of reports on the OnePlus product forums, some 6T owners have run into a problem with their phone's display in which a pixelated sort of "wave" or pulse of bright colors travels up or down the screen. A reliable trigger can't seem to be found, but for those that are affected, it appears to happen more often on the lock screen while using either OnePlus' face recognition or the in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone. The issue — which our Cody Toombs aptly described as "like something changed in the Matrix" — is demonstrated in the video below: VIDEO Based on reports, a factory reset can't fix the problem, and it doesn't appear to be tied to any specific SKU. Samsung Display remains the leader in global display market

The latest data from IHS Markit shows that Samsung Display has retained its dominant position as the top global smartphone display vendor in the first quarter of this year. It was able to do that as more smartphone manufacturers opted for OLED panels for their premium devices. Samsung picked up the bulk of those orders. Samsung's display affiliate is estimated to have shipped $3.4 billion worth of smartphone displays in the first quarter ending March 2019. It accounted for 40.2 percent of the smartphone display market in this period. Samsung Display also accounted for 80 percent of OLED panel supplies. Samsung Display retains its leadership It's pertinent to mention here that Samsung's Q1 market share is 6.6 percentage points lower than it was in the same period last year.
