There may be hope yet for a violet Galaxy S8

It was rumored a couple of months ago that Samsung might offer a violet color option with the Galaxy S8. We even saw leaked images of a purported Galaxy S8 in violet before the flagship was officially announced by Samsung. Violet wasn’t among the color options officially confirmed by Samsung on March 29 but it appears that there may be hope yet for those holding out for this color.

Samsung Brazil has listed a Clear Protective Case for the Galaxy S8 on its website. The case is being offered in Black, Silver and Violet colors. It’s not a typo because the color dot is also violet or “Violeta” in the local language.

However, clicking on the dot brings up the Orchid Grey model in the photos instead of a Galaxy S8 in violet. So either this is a placeholder or someone over at Samsung Brazil is just trolling people.

You should keep your fingers crossed if you’d like to purchase the Galaxy S8 in violet, who knows, Samsung might launch it eventually.

Samsung Display remains the leader in global display market

The latest data from IHS Markit shows that Samsung Display has retained its dominant position as the top global smartphone display vendor in the first quarter of this year. It was able to do that as more smartphone manufacturers opted for OLED panels for their premium devices. Samsung picked up the bulk of those orders. Samsung's display affiliate is estimated to have shipped $3.4 billion worth of smartphone displays in the first quarter ending March 2019. It accounted for 40.2 percent of the smartphone display market in this period. Samsung Display also accounted for 80 percent of OLED panel supplies. ARCore apps are now available for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S in China

Google's ARCore apps can now run on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S in China. The apps are available in the Xiaomi App Store through a partnership with Google. A tweet from the Google AR & VR Twitter account announced the news today, although the exact ARCore apps that are now compatible with the Mi Mix 2S were not named. Google did say in the tweet that more partners for ARCore are coming soon. The Mi Mix 2S is the first phone from the manufacturer to support ARCore. Some OnePlus 6Ts have an issue with waves of static on the display

Based on a handful of reports on the OnePlus product forums, some 6T owners have run into a problem with their phone's display in which a pixelated sort of "wave" or pulse of bright colors travels up or down the screen. A reliable trigger can't seem to be found, but for those that are affected, it appears to happen more often on the lock screen while using either OnePlus' face recognition or the in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone. The issue — which our Cody Toombs aptly described as "like something changed in the Matrix" — is demonstrated in the video below: VIDEO Based on reports, a factory reset can't fix the problem, and it doesn't appear to be tied to any specific SKU.
