Samsung Pay expands to Hong Kong, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UAE
Samsung has announced that it has expanded the reach of its mobile payment service to four new markets: Hong Kong, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UAE. Samsung Pay has been officially launched in Sweden and the UAE, while the service is available through an early access program in Hong Kong and Switzerland. The company is making sure that users get the best out of its service through partnerships tailor-made for those markets.
Sweden and the UAE are the first markets in the Middle East and Nordic regions, respectively, to get Samsung Pay. The mobile payment service was launched in these countries alongside the launch of the Galaxy S8 and S8+, and it will also be available through the Gear S3 in these markets. Apart from credit and debit cards, users in these markets can use pre-paid as well as loyalty cards with Samsung Pay for mobile payments.
“Less than two years ago, Samsung Pay came to life in Korea with a simple mission: To empower customers with mobile payments that are simple, secure and available almost anywhere. Today, Samsung Pay is so much more. Our launches in different parts of the world demonstrate governments’ and consumers’ changing attitudes towards progressing to a cashless society,” said Thomas Ko, VP and Global General Manager of Samsung Pay.
