This simple Chrome extension makes new tabs gorgeous

Google's backdrops are great, but Apple's Aerials are awesome.

We've talked about how easy it is to bring Apple TV's excellent Aerial screensavers to Android TV. It's also possible to use them as your Mac background. And for everyone else — especially those of the chromeOS variety — it's also possible to use them as what you see when you fire up a new tab in the world's best browser.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Install this Chrome extension.
  2. Open a new tab. (I'm a fan of the Ctrl-T method, you might be a mouse clicker. To each his own.)

And that's in. Inside that new tab you'll see the gorgeous aerial screensavers Apple's left open for folks to do with as they please.

Gear S3 frontier update patches major S Voice bug

Samsung released a much-requested update for the Gear S3 frontier on Wednesday. The upgrade has been designed to patch a major bug that resulted in S Voice crashing whenever it was toggled — and from what we can tell, it’s working. The glitch itself has been running riot since May, which is around the same time the device received a routine maintenance update , leading us to believe a faulty line of code was the reason S Voice was unable to run without breaking down. Some noticed that the performance of S Voice suffered when asking it to retrieve information from the internet, like a weather forecast, but it never crashed. Galaxy Note 8 launch date has been confirmed by Samsung

There has been a lot of speculation about the Galaxy Note 8’s launch in recent weeks. Reports have suggested that the handset will be launched earlier than previously expected. This means that Samsung won’t be unveiling it at the IFA 2017 convention in September. Samsung’s mobile boss recently confirmed that the Galaxy Note 8 is going to be launched towards the end of August . The company has now officially confirmed the Galaxy Note 8 launch date by sending out invites to the press. It was reported that Samsung would conduct a separate event for the Galaxy Note 8 in New York City. That’s precisely what it’s going to do. T-Mobile starts rolling out Android 10 update to Galaxy Tab S6

Samsung started the rollout of Android 10 to its current-generation flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab S6 , three months ago. One month later, Verizon released the Android 10 update to the Galaxy Tab S6 on its network. Now, T-Mobile has released the Android 10 software update to the tablet on its network in the US . The new software update with firmware version  T867USQU2BTE1 brings Android 10 to the LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab S6 (SM-T867U). It also features One UI 2.1 and the May 2020 Android security patch . The file size of the update is over 2.1GB, so we would advise you to use a Wi-Fi connection to download the new software. Although T-Mobile's changelog doesn't mention new features, the Android 10 update brings smoother animations and transitions, Google's gesture-based UI navigation, improved Dark Mode, tweaked color scheme and icons, and more. Apple is postponing new iOS features in favor of reliability and performance

Apple has decided to postpone new features in iOS in favor of improving the reliability and performance of the operating system, as according to a report by Axios. According to the report, Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President, Software Engineering, announced the revised plan to employees at a meeting earlier this month. This pushes features like refresh of the homescreen and in-car user interface, improvements to core apps like Mail and camera experience to 2019. What we will get this year is improvements to AR, digital health and parental controls. Apart from that, the OS will largely feature improvements to performance and user experience.
