Mint Mobile turns two, offers a $5 starter kit with 100% money back guarantee

Today Mint Mobile is turning two. In order to celebrate its anniversary, the company announced a $5 Starter Kit that makes it easier for people to try Mint's services.

In case you don't know. Mint Mobile is what's considered a mobile virtual network operator. MVNOs operate on the infrastructure of existing networks. In the case of Mint, that network is T-Mobile.

Unlike traditional carriers, Mint Mobile does not charge by the month for its plans. Instead, it requires customers to sign-up for service for 3, 6 or 12 months. After this introductory period, prices go up but not as much as if you were using other carriers.

You can get free service from Mint for 7 days

The $5 kit contains a Mint Mobile SIM card with 100MB of 4G LTE data, 100 texts, and 100 minutes of talk. The idea is be able to easily try out Mint Mobile and see if it's a good fit for you in the area you live in. After all, it comes down to coverage and Mint's availability in your area. You can also check out Mint's map on its website, to see if the service will work for you.

Mint Mobile is currently offering several plans which include:

  • 2GB of 4G LTE data, Unlimited Talk and Text – $15/per month for 3 months
  • 5GB of 4G LTE data, Unlimited Talk and Text – $20/ per month for 3 months
  • 10GB of 4G LTE data, Unlimited Talk and Text – $25/ per month for 3 months

Six month-plans start at $18/month, while the cheapest 12-month plan will take you back with $15/month.
