Huawei Records 15% Revenue Jump In H1 2018, 5G Push Continues

Huawei on Tuesday published its consolidated financial report for the first half of the year, posting a turnover equivalent to $47.67 billion, 15-percent up year-over-year. The firm attributed the improvement to a variety of factors, though it highlighted its efforts to increase the overall efficiency of all of its operations as one of the main reasons for the positive results.

Huawei also confirmed its 5G push is continuing as the company is still adamant to sell its end-to-end solutions for the next generation of networking on a global scale, though it's facing a number of obstacles to doing so in the form of regulatory scrutiny. The United States government already effectively blocked its wireless ambitions in its jurisdiction and Australia is now understood to be planning a similar move. The world's largest telecom equipment manufacturer is still expected to reap the rewards of its 5G investments in China, as well as Europe, with the Old Continent benefitting from the company's stateside defeat as that development prompted it to reallocate its resources to other markets. IT services and smartphone sales also contributed to Huawei's performance, according to its latest financial release which didn't disclose its exact bottom line. The Shenzhen, Guangdong-based tech giant traditionally doesn't publish any half-year profit figures and only details that aspect of its performance in its full-year reports.

Huawei pointed to the P20 series of Android flagships as one of its major H1 2018 milestones, highlighting its artificial intelligence and mobile photography capabilities as two seminal aspects of the new devices. The P20 Pro has already been widely touted as offering the best smartphone camera ever created, largely thanks to the inclusion of a 40-megapixel sensor and an unconventional three-lens system. The new report also draws attention to the MateBook X Pro, Huawei's first largely bezel-less notebook which is meant to signal the beginning of a new laptop design language used for the company's products. Besides consumer electronics, Huawei remains adamant to continue implementing AI into its other solutions, including cloud services, the firm said.
