‘Transparent’ Xiaomi Mi 8 Not Showing Off Real Parts: Leak

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition was introduced with a transparent glass back, allegedly showing off the phone's real phone parts, but it seems like that's not the case, at least according to a new leak. The previous report suggested that you're not seeing the phone's real parts on the Mi 8 Explorer Edition through that back glass, and the phone's leaked parts prove that fact. This info comes from a Twitter user called 'Chengming Alpert', who first said that those parts are probably not real.

If you take a look at the gallery down below, you will be able to see the images that Mr. Alpert posted on Twitter, and those pictures seem to reveal some sort of a cosmetic plate covering the phone's real components, which are almost certainly a lot less photogenic. Xiaomi could have shown off real components without a problem, but they're probably not as good looking as this cosmetic plate, which is why the company opted to go down this road, at least if the provided info pictures are real. Back when the Mi 8 Explorer Edition launched, Xiaomi said that it did not use a sticker with a picture of the components on it, so the company's statement is still accurate, as this seems to be a 3D model of actual parts, rather than anything else. Xiaomi may comment on this leak in the near future and set the record straight, we'll see.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition is the most powerful variant of the Mi 8 handset Xiaomi introduced, with the other two being the Mi 8 and Mi 8 SE. The Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition is made out of metal and glass, while it is fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core SoC. The phone sports a 6.21-inch fullHD+ Super AMOLED display, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage. The device comes with a 3,000mAh battery, Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging, and two 12-megapixel rear-facing cameras. Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on the phone, along with the company's MIUI skin. If you'd like to know more about the Mi 8 Explorer Edition, click here.
