Android 9 Pie (Go Edition) is Coming This Fall

Android (Go edition), Google's version of Android for low-tier, ultra-affordable devices, will jump from Android Oreo to Android Pie later this fall. Google announced the update this morning, while also introducing new features.

As you might recall, Android (Go edition) is supposed to make entry level phones not suck. It has a focus on leaner apps, more efficient use of storage space, and better overall performance. With Android Pie for Android Go, Google pushes those ideas further by freeing up an additional 500MB of space with the OS installed, speeding up boot times, adding more security through a verified boot, and a dashboard for tracking data consumption.

I'd imagine these new features will only increase the adoption of Android (Go edition) devices, which Google seems to believe have already been an early success. There are more than 200 Android (Go edition) devices on the market in 120+ countries. After having only introduced the first in February that arrived in April, that does indeed seem good.

Anyone own an Android (Go edition) phone? Just curious what you think about it.
