Android 9 Pie now rolling out to Nokia 6.1

Following up on its past promises, Nokia is starting to kick its Android 9 Pie rollout into the next gear. This week, Nokia 6.1 users are seeing a slice of Pie hit their devices.

Noted by Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer for HMD Global, on Twitter this Tuesday, Android 9 Pie is now rolling out to the Nokia 6.1 around the globe. This comes in just a day ahead of the company's self-imposed deadline for pushing this update.

We're still waiting on news surrounding this same update for the Nokia 6.1 Plus, but Sarvikas teased that "a lot can happen in 24 hours."

With the Nokia 6.1, Android 9 Pie delivers the same interface changes you'd find on a Pixel device along with welcome additions like Google Lens integration and more. The update should be rolling out to users everywhere, but presumably in a phased rollout just like the Nokia 7 Plus last month.

In related news, Sarvikas also reiterated Nokia's commitment to soon delivering Android 9 Pie to its original device lineup with the Nokia 3, 5, and 6. No specific timeline is in place for those devices, though.

Samsung Display remains the leader in global display market

The latest data from IHS Markit shows that Samsung Display has retained its dominant position as the top global smartphone display vendor in the first quarter of this year. It was able to do that as more smartphone manufacturers opted for OLED panels for their premium devices. Samsung picked up the bulk of those orders. Samsung's display affiliate is estimated to have shipped $3.4 billion worth of smartphone displays in the first quarter ending March 2019. It accounted for 40.2 percent of the smartphone display market in this period. Samsung Display also accounted for 80 percent of OLED panel supplies. Samsung Display retains its leadership It's pertinent to mention here that Samsung's Q1 market share is 6.6 percentage points lower than it was in the same period last year. Some OnePlus 6Ts have an issue with waves of static on the display

Based on a handful of reports on the OnePlus product forums, some 6T owners have run into a problem with their phone's display in which a pixelated sort of "wave" or pulse of bright colors travels up or down the screen. A reliable trigger can't seem to be found, but for those that are affected, it appears to happen more often on the lock screen while using either OnePlus' face recognition or the in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone. The issue — which our Cody Toombs aptly described as "like something changed in the Matrix" — is demonstrated in the video below: VIDEO Based on reports, a factory reset can't fix the problem, and it doesn't appear to be tied to any specific SKU. T-Mobile starts rolling out Android 10 update to Galaxy Tab S6

Samsung started the rollout of Android 10 to its current-generation flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab S6 , three months ago. One month later, Verizon released the Android 10 update to the Galaxy Tab S6 on its network. Now, T-Mobile has released the Android 10 software update to the tablet on its network in the US . The new software update with firmware version  T867USQU2BTE1 brings Android 10 to the LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab S6 (SM-T867U). It also features One UI 2.1 and the May 2020 Android security patch . The file size of the update is over 2.1GB, so we would advise you to use a Wi-Fi connection to download the new software. Although T-Mobile's changelog doesn't mention new features, the Android 10 update brings smoother animations and transitions, Google's gesture-based UI navigation, improved Dark Mode, tweaked color scheme and icons, and more.
