Alongside the new iPad Pro 11 and iPad Pro 12.9 Apple also introduced a second generation Pencil. In case it wasn't clear, the new tablets are not compatible with the old stylus and the new stylus isn't compatible with the old tablets.

A big part of that is charging – the new Apple Pencil is charged wirelessly from the new iPad Pros while the old one plugged into the Lightning port (which, by the way, the new tablets do not have). The second-gen Pencil also attaches to the tablet with magnets, which triggers a pairing process.

There are other differences too. The new Pencil supports a double tap gesture that is used in apps. For example, it can switch between drawing and erasing. That solves one of the pain points of the original, but it also makes upgrading more expensive.

Not only do you need a new stylus, but the second-generation Apple Pencil is more expensive too. It costs $130/€135 compared to $100/€100 for the original.

Sony Announces Smaller Digital Paper E-Ink Writing Tablet

Sony has now announced a smaller follow-up to last year's Digital Paper E-ink writing tablet, the DPT-RP1. That's according to a new announcement made today via Sony's official blog. The new tablet – also dubbed with Digital Paper branding but sold under the model number DPT-CP1 – seems to be the same basic design as the previous model. However, while that earlier device was sized as close as possible to A4 paper with a 13.3-inch display, the new model drops to A5 with a 10.3-inch display. That should make its use much easier under a wider number of circumstances since it will arguably be easier to hold in one hand while writing with the other.  However, there will certainly be other benefits as well. Samsung to build a P3 ‘total semiconductor factory’ in Pyeongtaek by 2021

It hasn't been long since Samsung completed the construction of its P2 semiconductor plant in Pyeongtaek, but now, the company is preparing to build its 3rd 'P3' semiconductor factory in the same city in the Gyeonggi Province. According to reports from the local media , Samsung wants to start constructing the P3 plant in September and make it fully operational by the end of 2021. The P3 plant will reportedly be 300 meters longer than the existing P2 plant, topping a total of 700 meters in length. Constructing the building itself should take roughly a year, and a few additional months will be needed to install the necessary equipment and ready it for mass production.
