LG’s New Soundbars Have Google Assistant Built-In

With CES 2019 about a week away, we're starting to learn about some of the products that will be on display at the show. LG is one of those companies revealing plans a bit early, with an announcement for its new soundbars.

The new LG soundbars (models SL10, SL9 and SL8) feature a "sleek, modern design," feature sound that has been given the Meridian Audio stamp of approval, and can do the smart stuff, thanks to Google Assistant.

These new soundbars support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, can up-mix their two-channel audio without generating distortion, and can upscale audio formats to sound like high-resolution. You should get a richer soundstage with more bass, thanks to Meridian's Bass & Space technology too.

As for Google Assistant, it's there. You can control the soundbar by voice (volume controls, for example), run your smart home, check the weather, and whatever else you want to do with the Assistant.

Again, these soundbars will be at CES where we'll likely get more details around pricing and availability.
