Android P adds automatic setting for 24-hour time format

In Lebanon, when someone says it's 3 o'clock and it's daytime, we all know they mean 3pm and not 3 o'clock in the morning. So you can imagine my confusion when I moved to France for a year where everyone uses the 24-hour format and I had to do the mental gymnastics everytime (pun intended) to figure out the correct time. There are countries where this is the norm and others where it's not, but until now, you had to manually pick that setting in your Android phone. Not with P though.

A new setting showed up in DP4 under Date & time for Automatic 24-hour format. Enabling it greys out the manual toggle below it and relies on your locale to set the default format. If you disable it, you can still turn on 24-hour mode or not.

If you live in a country where 24-hour format timing is the norm, which according to Wikipedia includes many non-English speaking countries, you're probably happy about this setting. Our tipster told us it was enabled by default for him when he updated to DP4, but it was disabled for me. Odds are, it will be activated by default on new devices.

DJI showcased its new Mavic Air drone in New York. The third quadcopter in this series is of similar quality to its predecessors and can also fold its arms for better portability. For its size, no competitor offers so much in terms of photo quality. Release date and price The DJI Mavic Air can be ordered through the official DJI website  and is also available from other retailers. The drone is available in three colors: marengo grey, white and red. We can buy the Mavic Air in a basic pack with remote control, protections, charger, cover, propeller replacement and a battery from US$799 (£769 in the UK). Samsung spent a lot of money to tell New York that the Galaxy S8 has arrived

It goes without saying that Samsung is going to spend a lot of money on marketing to get the word out that its new flagship smartphone is the one you should be buying this year. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ at an event in New York City today. Since it was an invite-only event, although it was streamed live online, Samsung decided to spend a lot of money to tell New Yorkers that the Galaxy S8 has arrived. Samsung illuminated the iconic Times Square in New York City with immersive displays reflective of the visual experience that the Galaxy S8′s Infinity Display promises. It basically bought out almost every available signage to announce the arrival of its newest flagship smartphone. As if that wasn’t enough, it even brought in a troupe of performers who danced “in celebration of the debut of the Galaxy S8.” Good stuff.
