Blueborne fix for Galaxy Note Edge released by Verizon

Verizon started rolling out a new firmware update for the Galaxy Note 4 yesterday. It’s a security update which brings a patch for the Blueborne vulnerability. Verizon is now rolling out the Blueborne fix for Galaxy Note Edge. Blueborne is a Bluetooth-based vulnerability that’s present in countless Android-powered devices.

The Blueborne vulnerability was discovered only recently. It’s a Bluetooth vulnerability that leaves Android devices open to a potential takeover by hackers. The vulnerability is also present in Windows, Linux and some iterations of iOS.

Attackers can leverage this vulnerability to remotely execute malicious code on the device. This enables them to launch apps, install malware and even steal data without the user even knowing about it.

Firmware version N915VVRU2CQI3 is now being rolled out by Verizon for this handset. It brings the Blueborne fix for Galaxy Note Edge. No further details are mentioned in the update’s changelog.

The changelog mentions that the latest Android security patches are included. However, it’s unclear if the September patch has been rolled out with this update.

Verizon users will soon receive this update which brings the Blueborne fix for Galaxy Note Edge. The carrier has started rolling it out over-the-air today and it should go live for all users soon.

Samsung to build a P3 ‘total semiconductor factory’ in Pyeongtaek by 2021

It hasn't been long since Samsung completed the construction of its P2 semiconductor plant in Pyeongtaek, but now, the company is preparing to build its 3rd 'P3' semiconductor factory in the same city in the Gyeonggi Province. According to reports from the local media , Samsung wants to start constructing the P3 plant in September and make it fully operational by the end of 2021. The P3 plant will reportedly be 300 meters longer than the existing P2 plant, topping a total of 700 meters in length. Constructing the building itself should take roughly a year, and a few additional months will be needed to install the necessary equipment and ready it for mass production. Sony Announces Smaller Digital Paper E-Ink Writing Tablet

Sony has now announced a smaller follow-up to last year's Digital Paper E-ink writing tablet, the DPT-RP1. That's according to a new announcement made today via Sony's official blog. The new tablet – also dubbed with Digital Paper branding but sold under the model number DPT-CP1 – seems to be the same basic design as the previous model. However, while that earlier device was sized as close as possible to A4 paper with a 13.3-inch display, the new model drops to A5 with a 10.3-inch display. That should make its use much easier under a wider number of circumstances since it will arguably be easier to hold in one hand while writing with the other.  However, there will certainly be other benefits as well.
