List of Verizon Gigabit LTE Devices

verizon gigabit lte devices

Verizon kept saying as we approached the end of 2017 that they'd have Gigabit Class LTE live in certain markets and on select devices. We're still trying to figure out where exactly you'll be able to crush through all those downloads at newly upgraded speeds (Verizon says in 560 markets), but we do at least have a list of Verizon Gigabit LTE devices to give you.

According to Verizon, the following devices can (or will soon be able to) access the full Gigabit LTE experience (256-QAM, 4×4 MIMO, 3-Carrier Aggregation):

  • Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge
  • Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 8
  • LG V30
  • Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL
  • Moto Z2 Force

I'm a bit surprised to see the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge on there, only because the Snapdragon X12 modem inside of them isn't even capable of theoretic speeds of 1Gbps. You would think that would be a requirement in order to be a part of a Gigabit LTE network. The X12 is capable of utilizing Gigabit LTE technologies, though, so maybe that's Verizon's rationale. But then shouldn't the G6 and V20 be capable too? Hey, this is what they sent us. If we get a clarification on that, we'll update this post.

Verizon also provided us with a list of devices that will benefit from their upgraded Gigabit LTE network without the full set of features (256-QAM, 3-Carrier Aggregation, no 4×4 MIMO). That should mean faster speeds, just not as fast as the devices we listed above:

  • LG V20
  • LG G6
  • Asus ZenFone*
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
(*We're still confirming which one)

We're told that some of these phones will need a software update in order to access Gigabit LTE technologies, but a number are already updated and accessing as they can. In other words, you may have a device that's ready to rock, only you'll need to live in an area that has been upgraded.

If you are noticing an increase in speeds, be sure to let us know over at our question of the day!
