Samsung Pay looks cleaner with new bottom navigation bar

Samsung is rolling out a new Samsung Pay update which brings some user interface tweaks. It looks like the company wants the Samsung Pay app to have a cleaner look which is why it has done away with the on-screen section menus in favor of a more traditional bottom navigation bar. This makes the app feel less cluttered and that’s something that users will certainly appreciate.

Samsung Pay UI cleaned up

Samsung has rolled out version 2.8.18 of the Samsung Pay app for supported devices. The version number varies by market and this particular update seems to have been released in the United States only so far.

There’s a new bottom navigation bar now in Samsung Pay which gives it a clean and traditional look. The navigation bar can now be used to view the wallet, check up on rewards, visit the Pay store and also to find out new deals.

This minor user interface change should also make it easier for users to navigate the various features that the Samsung Pay app offers.

If you’re based in the United States, you can head over to the Play Store right now and download the latest version of Samsung Pay. It may be a while before this update is rolled out in other markets.

Apple is postponing new iOS features in favor of reliability and performance

Apple has decided to postpone new features in iOS in favor of improving the reliability and performance of the operating system, as according to a report by Axios. According to the report, Craig Federighi, Senior Vice President, Software Engineering, announced the revised plan to employees at a meeting earlier this month. This pushes features like refresh of the homescreen and in-car user interface, improvements to core apps like Mail and camera experience to 2019. What we will get this year is improvements to AR, digital health and parental controls. Apart from that, the OS will largely feature improvements to performance and user experience. We have seen Apple do this with macOS in the past, where they dedicate one entire update cycle to just refining the OS and make existing features work better. Google’s December 2018 security patch includes much-needed RAM management fix

Every first Monday of the month, we're used to seeing Google launch security patches for its supported devices. This month is no different, as Google has released the December 2018 security patch. The patch not only fixes a bunch of security bugs, but also features the long awaited memory performance fixes. Android Pie has long been killing apps in the background (even if you were using them a second ago) and it's even affected devices other than Pixel /Nexus devices and we hope this fix will help. There are also some camera fixes for Pixel users included as well. Surprisingly, we're seeing the updates hit the Nexus 5X and 6P, both of which have reached their end of life. It's good to see Google support these old devices even when their three years are up and the company has no obligation to update them. December's software release is here.
