LG XBOOM AI ThinQ model WK9 is a real product name for a new smart display

Smart displays are starting to ramp up their presence, spicing up the smart speaker market by attaching a sizable touchscreen to their body. And now LG wants to get in on that action, too. Just in time for the holiday shopping season, no less!

Here we have a smart display with an 8-inch touchscreen which is flanked by a pair of speakers that have a 2 channel/20W output. The whole smart display measures in at 370 x 244 x 145mm, so while it's not necessarily tiny, it might not be the biggest thing on your kitchen counter, either. LG is calling this the XBOOM AI ThinQ model WK9, which is certainly something.

There is a 5MP camera on the front which will handle the video calls. The new device is equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and it's running Google's Android Things under the hood.

While the Life's Good crew is unveiling the new smart speaker ahead of the holidays, it's not actually going into any detail on an actual release date just yet. However, LG has the new smart speaker listed at $199.99 on its product page, after a $100 discount to its suggested retail price of $299.99.

What do you think of LG's newest device? Is this your next must-have gadget?
